Eveleigh Stories was developed in response to community interest in the history of the area and tells people’s stories in the context of the whole Eveleigh Railway Workshops precinct and the broader locality.
The first stories focus on South Eveleigh as part of the former Eveleigh Railway Workshops and we hope this will grow to incorporate more stories from around and across the railway.
The website is hosted by Infrastructure NSW where our focus is on the orderly and economic development of land within the 350 hectare Redfern Waterloo Growth Centre. UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation funded the Central to Eveleigh Urban Transformation and Transport Program to explore opportunities to renew government land in the Redfern Waterloo Growth Centre. On 1 July 2019, the UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation was abolished with its functions transferring to Infrastructure NSW. Infrastructure NSW is a New South Wales Government agency.
We are grateful to the City of Sydney Council, the NSW Department of Environment and Heritage and the NSW Heritage Council for their interest and support. Many others who contributed generously to the development of Eveleigh Stories are detailed on our credits page.
