It was developed in response to community interest in the history of the area and tells people’s stories in the context of the whole Eveleigh Railway Workshops precinct and the broader locality.
The first stories focus on ATP as part of the former Eveleigh Railway Workshops and we hope this will grow to incorporate more stories from around and across the railway.
The website is hosted by UrbanGrowth NSW as part of the Central to Eveleigh Urban Transformation and Transport Program. The Program is a long-term project that will gradually transform largely under-used government owned land in and around 3km of rail corridor from Central to Macdonaldtown and Erskineville stations. UrbanGrowth NSW is the NSW Government’s urban transformation agency, acting as a master developer tasked with delivering a portfolio of projects that support the NSW Government's 20 year growth strategy.
We are grateful to the City of Sydney Council, the NSW Department of Environment and Heritage and the NSW Heritage Council for their interest and support. Many others who contributed generously to the development of Eveleigh Stories are detailed on our credits page.
